Summary: Under general direction, incumbent assign and monitor the work of garage personnel to include heavy equipment technicians and mechanic assistants.  Incumbents review and assign repair orders, assist garage personnel in troubleshooting problems and assist in the essential duties of a heavy equipment technician.  Also, incumbent will oversee emission testing of vehicles and respond to accidents and emergency road calls.

Required Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications.  Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.); two years of technical training in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance and five years experience as a heavy equipment mechanic responsible for working on both gas and diesel internal combustion engines; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
