Summary:  Under general supervision, incumbent(s) performs distribution and textbook inventory functions which may include, but not be limited to, deliveries, textbook management, return of merchandise, processing requisitions, and transfer and/or disposal of textbook materials.  Receiving excess textbook materials from schools, verifying materials are complete, preparing materials to be suitable condition to send out to schools. Adding materials to textbook stock/inventory.

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non – technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in warehouse operations; operating standard office equipment; and preparing and maintaining accurate records utilizing Destiny software; along with basic computer skills.  Communication, both written and verbal with various departments and schools.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents and/or ratios; read and follow instructions; understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: warehouse procedures and methods; stock identification; inventory techniques; and safety practices and procedures. Computer skills and understanding of Destiny software and curriculum materials are helpful

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, gather, collate, and/or classify data and materials, and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment.  Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data, and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: meeting deadlines and schedules: setting priorities; adapting to changing work priorities; and communicating with diverse groups; ability to learn to operate heavy warehouse equipment.
