Summary:   Under general direction, incumbent(s) creates and instructs lesson plans based on District curriculum and the Homebound program.  Incumbent(s) assesses and completes Individualized Education Program (IEP’s) for students.  Drives to various students’ homes or assigned locations to provide instructional services to students. 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Instructs students to meet the needs of the students while demonstrating ability to teach multiage and multi-ability level children and provides instruction on District objectives, skills, knowledge, and behavior as specified by the Individualized Education Program (IEP), state law, Board policies, district curriculum, and administrative regulations. Demonstrates physical management if assigned to a child with behavior problems.
  • Develops written lesson plans and activities in conjunction with the District’s curriculum program by using a variety of instructional materials and techniques and to meet the needs of the students. Establishes high expectations for student performance and provides motivation, management, instruction, guidance, and support to assist students to meet those expectations.
  • Drives to various student’s homes or assigned locations to provide instructional services to students.
  • Acts as a liaison with staff, students, and parents regarding education-related purposes of the Homebound program.  Communicates with regular classroom teacher regarding student’s achievement, instructional support, lesson plans, attendance, behavior issues, and student’s overall progress.  Participates in parent/teacher conferences as requested.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance records and creates reports indicating attendance records. 
  • Evaluates pupils’ growth in skills, knowledge, and behavior; keeps appropriate records required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations; and reports progress to parents by completing IEP’s and individual progress reports for the parent, school, and district file.
  • Attends meetings called by the Director of Special Services and other meeting to stay current on new policies and procedures regarding the Homebound program.  Implements policies, administrative regulations, and procedures established by the Board, Superintendent, and Director of Special Services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications.  Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary or Secondary Education;
  • Possession of valid Arizona Department of Education Teacher or Substitute Teacher Certificate;
  • Possession of valid Arizona Department of Transportation Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

  • One year of teaching experience.

  • Instructional techniques to meet the various learning styles of students;
  • Educational courses and qualifying National tests;
  • Arizona Department of Transportation requirements to obtain drivers license;
  • Operating a one ton vehicle set up as a mobile classroom;
  • Maintaining accurate records on students;
  • Delivering effective lessons to students;
  • Identifying learning styles and students needs, assigning lessons to meet those needs;
  • Writing clear and concise progress notes on each student;
  • Organizing and managing time;
  • Managing a mobile classroom to create an effective learning environment;
  • Recognizing students different needs and developing activities to enhance learning;
  • Listening effectively to students;
  • Working as a team member with instructional assistance in a mobile classroom;
  • Engaging and encouraging communication skills while interacting with supervisors, staff, students, etc. to exchange information.
