Summary: Under general directions, incumbent manages the food service program at one school site according to policies and procedures, and federal/state requirements. Provides leadership, support and guidance to ensure that food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met. Maintains records of income, food, supplies, personnel and equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees kitchen operations and supervises employees including determining workloads, recommending new hires and terminations, conducting performance evaluations, performing training functions for new support staff, maintaining personnel records and interpreting and implementing policies and procedures.
- Orders food and non-food items necessary for daily operation of kitchen including taking inventory, participating in meal programs such as field trips and transport programs, determining food products and quantity levels and entering orders onto the District’s system. Checks in orders by verifying packing slip against purchase orders and putting away items.
- Acts as a liaison in promoting positive relations between schools, District, parents, Food Services and students including diplomatically handling conflict situations.
- Prepares daily food use reports by tracking and recording meals served and supplies used. Verifies information, ensures meals are in compliance with National School Meal guidelines and turns in to the District office.
- Assists in food production and clerical work as needed by determining which areas need additional help.
- Prepares payroll report by verifying hours; tracking vacation, sick and personal leave; tracking substitute's hours; and submitting to District office.Performs other duties as required.
- Takes inventory of supplies to ensure adequate levels are maintained.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.); three years school food service experience including one year kitchen lead experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Must have Food Handlers Permit. Must be AFSA certified within three (3) years after being placed in a manager position.

- Basic mathematics especially food measurement conversions;
- National School Meal requirements;
- Food preparation techniques;
- Food and health requirements as governed by federal and state laws and regulations.

- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. Sufficient to exchange or Convey infonnation and to receive work direction.
