Summary:

 

Under general direction, incumbent(s) trains, models and coaches school leadership and teachers in the effective planning and implementation of the intervention cycle, differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students, and the utilization of assessments and the resulting data to monitor student progress.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Coaches and models the implementation of assessment practices in the classroom.
  • Coaches and models designing and delivery of effective instruction to targeted students.
  • Coaches and models on how to utilize disaggregated student achievement data to plan and deliver instruction and make data-driven instructional decisions.
  • Models student monitoring to ensure that targeted students are making adequate academic progress.
  • Coaches and conducts demonstration lessons with individual teachers who request or require assistance with instructional strategies and how to manage intervention periods, lesson design, and accomplishing the objectives.
  • Provides feedback to teachers in need of assistance with instructional practices, the use of student data for planning instruction, and the management of the classroom and students, whether supportive or directive.
  • Prepares, presents and facilitates professional development in the area of intervention (integrating assessment, data usage, identifying individual student needs and providing targeted instruction aligned with needs).
  • Participates in professional development activities in Academic Services directed at supporting learning about and implementation of effective intervention.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications.  Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field;
  • Five years of teaching experience;
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education teacher certification (applicable to 5th-8th grade);
  • Valid fingerprint clearance (IVP) card.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field;
  • Mentoring experience with student teachers and/or teachers;
  • Curriculum, instruction and assessment committee/team experiences;
  • Collaborative leadership roles and experiences such as team teaching, committees, and councils;
  • Presentations to large and small groups;
  • Demonstrated and modeled intervention strategies to a variety of audiences;
  • Effective teaching and classroom experience at various grade levels.
