The Gifted Learning Center is a K-6th grade multi-age program for highly gifted students in Washington Elementary School District. Students are grouped for instruction by ability and not grade level and participate in activities such as problem-based learning tasks, genius hour/passion projects, shared inquiry, hands-on equations, Think Law, Future Problem Solving, etc.
The center staff consists of four teachers who plan collaboratively on a daily basis and share the almost 80 students throughout the day. The Schoolwide Enrichment Model Reading Framework is used to teach language arts, science and social studies are integrated into a block of time called Cube, and advanced math options for those working above grade level are available. |
