Summary:

 

Under general direction, incumbent(s) develops and maintains District’s strategic communications plan; develops and maintains District’s Web site and social media outlets and monitors, writes and publishes District and school news and information. Incumbent(s) builds a positive and productive partnership with District personnel, parents, community and other stakeholders. 

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Plans and implements comprehensive, innovative and strategic communication and outreach programs for the District. 
  • Visits schools and promotes each school’s positive attributes using multiple strategies to connect with all stakeholders.
  • Builds positive and productive partnerships with District personnel, parents, community and other stakeholders. 
  • Seeks and submits nominations for employee and other awards.
  • Leverages social media efforts for the District. 
  • Collaborates to enhance the sophistication of school communications by incorporating innovative uses of technology, including video. 
  • Oversees and manages the content and design of the District’s Web site.
  • Assists schools in promoting programs, activities and events.
  • Promotes, encourages, and assists departments in meeting external and internal Web needs of the District and its users.
  • Oversees the digital communication systems and procedures.
  • Facilitates and/or participates in various communications-related committees.
  • Initiates and develops public information and marketing.
  • Reviews, edits and approves various school and department publications.
  • Builds relationships with media (tv, radio, online, print) and assists with media relations. 
  • Assists the Director of CAPE with crisis procedures, training and communication
  • Assists with the development, planning, and implementation of new and continuing recognition programs and events. 
  • Coordinates special District programs such as the annual United Way campaign and assists in the planning, coordinating, and implementing District special events.
  • Helps solicit awards, grants, gifts, and sponsorships from new and continuing partners.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications.  In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

  • High School Diploma
  • Two years of Communication or Public Engagement experience
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license
  • Experience in public speaking

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, or related field
  • Five years of Communication or Public Engagement experience
  • Two years of experience in a public school setting

  • Remaining updated on current information and application of crisis management;
  • Understanding analytical, critical, and creative thinking and sound judgment;
  • Demonstrating successful experience in writing news releases, making presentations, and interacting with the media;
  • Overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications;
  • Managing multiple projects at a time.
  • Interviewing, asking questions to capture pertinent data, analyzing information and utilizing to write award/grant applications
  • Writing is clear, concise, accurate and technically correct
