Summary:

 

Provides District-wide instructional support to include meeting with campus special services teams and administration to identify effective strategies and practices in working with students with disabilities as well as provide service delivery support for inclusive practices in general and special education classrooms. Serve on Special Services District Leadership team and collaborate with all other District Departments to provide effective special education services.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Support the Special Services Administrator with scheduling, conducting, and managing Special Services staff development in-service training sessions and release time activities.
  • Assists in the identification, development, and preparation of special education staff development materials to include program objectives, activities, and methods for implementing staff development and in-service programs.
  • Analyzes and compiles student achievement and discipline data utilizing District data systems to identify trends and focus areas for school support.
  • Provide updates and quarterly reports regarding special education subgroup progress.
  • Supervises assigned special services staff.
  • Attends school support team meetings to share data and offer strategies to address areas of need.
  • Offers support to schools identified as Targeted Support Intervention (TSI) schools to address subgroup needs and identification of action steps.
  • Monitors District-wide IEP development and review process to ensure key components and accurate information is clearly included.
  • Utilizes District IEP data system to generate and develop monitoring reports to support schools with IEP case management and meeting of deadlines.
  • Collaborates with Special Services Instructional Specialists on providing training and support to schools with IEP development needs.
  • Develops a comprehensive Special Services IEP audit team to identify District wide IEP trends.
  • Provides feedback to special services teams on IEP development.
  • Report data and trends to Special Services Director.
  • Serves as the liaison between specialists and campus administration and leadership teams. Shares information and updates to district administration, school administration, teachers and staff regarding special education and compliance.
  • Reports updates to Special Services Administrator and Special Services Director.

 

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, Child Development, or related field;
  • Three years of teaching experience;
  • Valid teacher certificate.
  • Valid Arizona Department of Transportation driver’s license.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Master’s degree in Special Education;
  • Three years of teaching experience in a special education classroom;
  • Three years of leadership or supervisory experience.

  • Engaging and encouraging interpersonal communication skills while interacting with supervisors, staff, students, etc. to exchange information.
