CLASS SUMMARY: Under general direction, incumbent(s) provides treatment, instructional support, and screenings through the direction of the speech and language pathologists and in accordance to Individual Education Plans (IEPs). In addition, incumbent(s) maintains student progress reports, maintains applicable technological devices, coordinates activities, and provides logs and reports to the pathologists.

1.           

Provides treatment and instructional support in accordance to documental Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and through the direction of the speech and language pathologists. Implements therapy goals and instructional support related to the goals.

2.           

Conducts speech, language and hearing screenings using established models, formulations, and routine activities.   Submits screenings and provides input to supervising speech and language pathologists.

3.           

Completes student progress reports by maintaining databases and charts and documenting daily logs and quarterly progress reports.   Submits student progress reports to the supervising speech and language pathologists.

4.           

Assists speech and language staff with student assessment activities, including setting up activities and helping student prompting.

5.           

Coordinates activities with the instructional staff to assist implementation of the recommendation from the speech and language pathologists. Prepares materials and sets up activities.

Attends IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other applicable meetings. Assists the speech and language staff by expressing observations and describing child’s performance.

Performs checks and maintenance of assistive voice output devices and other applicable technology devices. Assists the speech and language pathologist with the programming of the assistive technology devices and checks programming regularly.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

·         Associate’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.

·         ADHS Speech-Language Patholoy Assistant License.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology, Communication, or related field;

·         One year of experience working with special needs children;

·         Proficency in English and Spanish language;

·         Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification;

·         Valid First Aid certification.
