CLASS SUMMARY: Under general direction, incumbent(s) supervises KidSpace staff at multiple locations and directs the Site Coordinators to implement the KidSpace programs. Incumbent(s) ensures the KidSpace programs are in compliance with federal and state laws, District policies and procedures. Manages and assists in the design, organization, and supervision of the day-to-day activities to facilitate high-quality enrichment and child-care services.

       1.             

Supervises KidSpace site managers at multiple locations and support staff including determining workloads, establishing work schedules, monitoring work performance, recommending new hires and terminations based on District procedures, conducting performance evaluations, performing training functions, maintaining personnel records for licensing purposes, and resolving staff conflicts.

       2.             

Manages financial systems at multiple sites to ensure fiscal accountability to include managing of the annual operating budget, facilitating of accounts receivable from tuition and DES based clients, preparing of weekly deposits, and maintaining of accurate inventory and financial records.

       3.             

Develops and oversees instruction of developmentally appropriate practices and lesson plans by applying departmental goals, District academic and curriculum requirements, accredited organization requirements, and state and national early childhood standards. Designs and maintains a creative environment by promoting learning and establishing and maintaining standards of acceptable behavior.   Conducts on-going student assessments and behavioral evaluations.

       4.             

Serves as a licensing specialist at multiple sites to interpret licensing regulations and facilitate the inspection of the KidSpace and Head Start facilities to ensure Department of Health Services (DHS) requirements are in compliance. Prepares compliance reports for DHS and meets with principals, facility managers, and Head Start instructors to ensure licensing deficiencies are amended.

       5.             

Acts as a liaison with the District staff, school principals, office managers, health services, facility manager, cafeteria staff, Head Start staff, special needs programs, and transportation in regards to the KidSpace program. Refers families to District and community resources.

       6.             

Implements the design, organization, and preparation of all holiday camps, including obtaining the necessary equipment, supplies, reservations, field trips, transportation, and permissions to carry out camp activities. Interview, select, train and schedule camp staff to assure that the DHS ratios are met. Facilitate communication between the ASP Department and the camp. Make necessary arrangements to accommodate children with special needs and administer medication when necessary.   Open and/or secure campus as necessary.

       7.             

Oversees the registration of children according to DHS licensing requirements and the maintenance of up-to-date files and records of enrollment, attendance, and emergency information in compliance with federal and state laws and District procedures. Prepares and submits student enrollment and staffing reports to the Academic Support Programs Department.

       8.             

Collaborates with school administrators and teachers on the special needs of students attending the KidSpace programs.   Participates in IEP meetings, works with teachers, and parents to ensure the success of each child.

       9.             

Cultivates and facilitates staff development and professional growth by attending, planning, and conducting monthly staff meetings. Prepares and distributes staffing, enrollment, and financial reports to ASP staff and site managers. Implements school, District, state, and federal policies regarding the KidSpace program, while continuously improving high-quality programs.

      10.           

Distributes and collects parent surveys on a yearly basis at multiple locations. Evaluates and analyzes the survey for the purpose of implementing program improvements.   Promotes family involvement, education, and communication with the programs. Informs families regularly of their child’s progress and provides on-going family information and education.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired;
  • One year of instructional experience;
  • Three years experience working in a child care setting or Child Development Associate credential plus twenty-four hours of academic course work;
  • Possession of Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card or proof of submission prior to hire;
  • Possession of TB Testing clearance within 30 days of hire;
  • Possession of valid CPR Certification within 30 days of hire;
  • Possession of valid First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire;
  • Possession of valid Arizona Food Handler’s License Certification;
  • Possession of valid Arizona Department of Transportation Driver’s License.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education or related field.
