CLASS SUMMARY: Under general direction, incumbent(s) develops lesson plans and activities, instructs students, maintains discipline, and evaluates student’s development. In addition, incumbent(s) assists with the scheduling of the class, meets and works cooperatively with parents, and prepares administrative paperwork required for the program.

1.        

Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to complement lesson plans. Designs a variety of activities to engage students in active learning.

2.        

Develops written lesson plans and activities for the after school and summer school programs by using a variety of instructional materials and techniques and to meet the needs of the students. Establishes high expectations for student performance and provides motivation, management, instruction, guidance, and support to assist students to meet those expectations.

Maintain school discipline that includes providing safety and health services to students in the classroom environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

·         High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in Education;

·         One year of teaching experience;

·         Valid Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certificate.
