Summary:  Under general supervision, incumbent(s) performs distribution and textbook inventory functions which may include, but not be limited to, deliveries, textbook management, return of merchandise, processing requisitions, and transfer and/or disposal of textbook materials.  Receiving excess textbook materials from schools, verifying materials are complete, preparing materials to be suitable condition to send out to schools. Adding materials to textbook stock/inventory.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Redistributes textbooks to and from the warehouse stock for the purpose of meeting demands and to control inventory.  Processes returned textbook items from schools.  Transfers textbook items to warehouse textbook inventory.  Processes returned textbook items to include checking items in kits, making kits complete in preparation for shipment to schools to address textbook needs.  Reshelves textbook items.
  • Works with Academic Services to respond to inquiries regarding availability of textbook items for shipment to schools.  Prepares distribution of textbook materials by packing, labeling and staging for delivery.  Utilizes applicable software packages for labeling, searching, tracking and reporting purposes.  Performs inventory of textbook materials.  Operates delivery trucks, mail trucks, cargo vans, electric pallet jacks, and other applicable equipment.  Executes pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and performs general maintenance to all applicable equipment. 
  • Handles bar coding of textbook materials that are newly purchased or returned items that were not previously bar coded or were bar coded incorrectly.  Utilizes computer for the purpose of maintaining accurate records in the Destiny software program of textbook materials, receiving excess textbook materials from schools, distributing textbook materials to schools to address changing student population. 
  • Performs data entry into and runs reports from the Destiny software program, managing textbook distribution, reconciliation of stock discrepancies, and look-up of stock.
  • Works with District Expediter to assist with return of merchandise for schools and departments.  Works with Accounts Payable to expedite payment to vendors.
  • Assists property control to determine recycled textbook materials to include delivery and pick up of recycle materials determined to be obsolete.  Ensures Destiny barcode tagging is performed when items are received.  Performs annual physical inventory process, documents discrepancies, and recommends adjustments in database.
  • Assists property control with the pick up and transfer of all district assets between schools, classrooms, and auction sites including lifting items, loading and unloading truck, operating forklifts, truck lift, and other equipment, and coordinating moves with the effected personal. Complete all assigned work requests in timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate records to support any required reporting documentation.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications.  Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • One year of computer experience;
  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired;
  • Valid Arizona Department of Transportation Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

  • One year of working with and identifying education related textbook materials;
  • One year of warehouse experience

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents and/or ratios; read and follow instructions; understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: warehouse procedures and methods; stock identification; inventory techniques; and safety practices and procedures. Computer skills and understanding of Destiny software and curriculum materials are helpful

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, gather, collate, and/or classify data and materials, and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment.  Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data, and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: meeting deadlines and schedules: setting priorities; adapting to changing work priorities; and communicating with diverse groups; ability to learn to operate heavy warehouse equipment.
