Summary:  Under general direction, incumbent(s) work with nurses in coordinating the identification phase of the hearing conservation program including providing in-service training to staff and providing information on numbers of children screened, the grade levels screened and the methods of screening.

 

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Oversees audiological services for students identified in the hearing screening/re-screening and threshold phase of the hearing conservation program including providing audiological assessments, monitoring medical referrals, referring students for special placement, assessing noise levels, maintaining audiometric equipment and providing information to others regarding the hearing conservation program.
  • Coordinates the identification phase of the hearing conservation program including coordinating nurses requests for audiological evaluations, identifying testing environments and scheduling times.
  • Evaluates students for special programs including the Oral Language Disorders Program.
  • Provides in-service training for parents, faculty and staff including updating and teaching others on audiometric theories and techniques governed by the State Department of Health Regulations.
  • Provides information to the Director of Special Services in terms of the number of students screened, the grade levels screened, the methods used in screening and threshold measurements.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.Performs other duties as required.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications.  Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Audiology;
  • Three years of audiology experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

  • Master’s degree in Audiology;
  • Three years of audiology experience in a public school system.

  • Engaging and encouraging communication skills while interacting with supervisors, staff, students, etc. to exchange information.
