Summary:

 

Under general direction, incumbent(s) provides training leadership around identifying and supporting  gifted and high potential students in Head Start and ECE programs

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide professional development on the characteristics and needs of pre-K gifted students to all Head Start and ECE teachers at regular intervals throughout the year
  • Assess referred pre-K students using an ADE approved assessment to determine need for gifted services
  • Regularly communicate with the parents of identified pre-K gifted students
  • Collaborate with Head Start or ECE teachers to write individual learning goals for gifted pre-K students
  • Consult with Head Start and ECE teachers upon request to provide lesson ideas for pre-K gifted students
  • Provide small group instruction periodically throughout the year directly to identified pre-K gifted students

 

Required Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications.  Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • Hold a current teaching certificate in Arizona
  • Have or be working towards a Gifted Endorsement
  • Experience working with preschool aged children
  • Experience collaborating with and supporting other teachers
  • Experience presenting in front of groups of adults
  • Detail oriented
  • Effective communicator

Preferred Qualifications:

 

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Master’s Degree

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
