Summary:

Under general direction, incumbent(s) provides training and specific leadership in the area of middle school ELA curriculum and instruction and social studies curriculum and instruction.

 

Essential Functions:

 

ELA Responsibilities

  • Works with the ELA Instructional Specialist to support and facilitate middle school ELA curriculum development with a focus on technology integration.
  • Provides leadership in supporting the use and training to support the Language Live platform.
  • Creates and delivers professional development for teachers, instructional coaches and administrators around ELA instruction, assessment and intervention in the middle school classroom Support the development and maintenance of online and blended learning opportunities with the ELA Instructional Specialist.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Social Studies Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership with the Social Studies Teacher Leadership Team.
  • Assist in the social studies curriculum development with a focus on tech integration.
  • Lead the transition from topic-based standards to skills-based focused Arizona standards with a focus on inquiry learning.
  • Provide leadership in the integration of Social Studies into ELA.
  • Support the development and maintenance of online and blended learning opportunities.
  • Create and deliver professional development for teachers, instructional coaches and administrators around effective social studies instruction.
  • Provide coaching to social studies teachers in areas such as curriculum, instruction, technology integration, inquiry learning, lesson planning, assessment, etc.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications.  Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • A minimum of five years of teaching experience
  • Demonstrated experience with effective technology integration;
  • Obtain and Maintain an appropiate Arizona Department of Education Teaching Certification for the position hired.
  • Obtain and Maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Identifty Verified Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Master’s degree in Education or related field
  • Experience coaching and/or delivering professional development at the district level.
