Summary:

Under general direction, incumbent(s) supports teachers in the implementation of the regular and supplemental curricular, instructional, and assessment programs.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Coaches and mentors individual teachers who request or require assistance with instructional strategies, classroom management, and lesson design to accomplish the objectives established for English language learners served in classrooms that service the Targeted ELD and/or Integrated ELD minutes as part of the approved state models.
  • Conduct teacher observations and/walkthroughs and provide feedback that facilitates teacher reflection and growth.
  • Assists teachers with utilizing disaggregated student achievement data to plan and deliver instruction, and provides large- and small-group and individual training (or professional development) to help teachers make data-driven instructional decisions.
  • Participates and presents professional development activities and events that support English language development, including District curricula, instruction, and assessments.
  • Prepares and presents professional development activities and events that support English language development, including District curricula, instruction, and assessments.
  • Ensures compliance of state & federal laws for English Learners including file audits, lesson plan compliance, and EL model implementation.
  • Participates and presents at District wide family engagement events.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications.  Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education;
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience with English language learners;
  • ESL or SEI endorsement;
  • Obtain and Maintain an appropiate Arizona Department of Education Teaching Certification for the position hired.
  • Obtain and Maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Identifty Verified Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Valid Arizona Department of Transportation driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

  • Master’s degree in education &/or English Language Acquisition or related field
  • One year of providing professional development experience;
  • One year of curriculum, instruction and assessment program experience.

  • Engaging and encouraging communication skills while interacting with supervisors, staff, students, etc. to exchange information.
