Summary:

The project manager manages and coordinates the construction and School Facility Board (SFB) grant projects and the related contracts. The project manager oversees all aspects of construction and SFB grant projects under $2 million dollars.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Directs the overall planning and administration of existing or new facilities construction, project budget planning, project management, and remodeling projects for all school sites with District architects, engineers, outside contractors, principals, and other administrative staff.  Directs all ongoing construction and remodeling activities and ensures fiscal responsibility, including SFB grant submittal. Ensures that all required reports for School Facility Board (SFB) are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the supervision of the Capital Projects and Maintenance staff and or vendors by determining workloads, establishing work schedules, monitoring work performance.
  • Maintains procedures for communicating project status, progress reports and fiscal updates to the Executive Director of Business Operations, Acts as representative of the District in communicating with other governmental or public agency representatives regarding new construction, land acquisition, and remodeling activities.
  • Administers the Capital Projects and Maintenance Department budget including preparing budget proposals, identifying budget needs, overseeing expenditures, and providing cost analysis and reports.  Researches cost estimates for labor, equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Plans and implements methods and practices to ensure effective coordination with the District’s budget planning function.
  • Develops and executes improvement, preventative, and emergency maintenance plans by collaborating with District administration and staff, inspecting facilities and identifying needs, researching and estimating costs, determining needed equipment and supplies, and creating short and long-range schedule.
  • Administers practices to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness, establishing and updating policies, evaluating current practices, and identifying and resolving construction-related problems. Ensures that the District’s buildings and equipment are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. 
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications.  Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field;
  • Minimum of five years of managing construction projects;
  • Valid Arizona Department of Transportation Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

It is preferred that the applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

  • Master’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field;
  • Minimum of eight years of managing construction projects;
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience;
  • Minimum of two years of public school district experience.
