CLASS SUMMARY: Under general direction, incumbent(s) oversees the implementation of the 21st Century Grant adult education programs to include researching educational needs, designing program to meet the needs, supervising temporary employees, and managing the budget. In addition, incumbent(s) researches and obtains funding sources to sustain the 21st Century Programs by promoting business partnerships, seeking donations, and writing grant proposals.

1.        

Researches and obtains funding sources to sustain the 21st Century Program by promoting business partnerships, seeking donations, and writing grant proposals. Assists the administration with the tracking of the obtained funding sources.   Assists the Site Coordinator with the management of the obtained funding sources and allocated budget for the adult education services provided by the 21st Century Grant.

2.        

Designs and coordinates adult education classes as instructed in the 21st Century Grant. Researches adult education programs and identifies needs of parents and the community. Evaluates adult education classes and makes revisions to ensure needs are being met.   Keeps attendance and monitors the success of the adult education component of the 21st Century Grant.

3.        

Provides outreach to community partners, school staff, parents, and other stakeholders regarding the 21st Century Community Learning Center Program.

4.        

Supervises site instructors and support staff for the 21st Century adult education programs to include interviewing and making hiring recommendations, observing classes, monitoring work performance, determining workloads, establishing work schedules, and maintaining records. Recruits employees to participate in programs. Oversees the payment of temporary staff for the adult education services to include completing required paperwork, verifying pay rates, collecting and approving timesheets and stipends, and submitting payment paperwork to the Community Enrichment Department.

5.        

Facilitates family-centered events for the 21st Century Program by establishing the special events and ceremonies, informing parents and the community, creating schedules, arranging set up of event, and coordinating with other District departments and business partnerships for event participation. Communicates with parents regarding the attendance, on-going progress, and safe dismissal of students.

6.        

Assists the Site Coordinator with the completion of the 21st Century Annual Report, in particular, for the adult education services and the obtained funding sources received to sustain the program.

Works with District and school personnel to ensure compliance with policies and procedures are being adhered to such as emergency, hiring, use of facility, and other protocols.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other instructional field;
  • Three years of contracted teaching, counseling, or related experience in a public school setting.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

It is preferred that applicant possess the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

 

  • Master’s degree in Education;
  • Three years of supervising after school programs.
